FOUNDER ELENORA WOODS D.D.S.

HISTORY
Due to a $650 million dollar state budget deficit in 2005, Governor Bredesen made the decision to drop the adult expansion population from the TennCare roll. As a result, over 170,000 adults lost their coverage. The dental carve out improved the condition for the children in the state of Tennessee.  However, dental coverage and services for poor and uninsured adult population became very limited or unmet in certain instances.  Recognizing the enormous need for dental emergency care in communities for the uninsured and indigent adult population, systemic conditions resulting from and exasperated by dental infections, and incidences of dental related health threats and deaths in this country, the Dental Angel Fund Foundation was created.

PURPOSE and MISSION

The purpose and mission is to eliminate suffering and health threats caused by dental infections and disease.  Dental Angel Fund Foundation will provide financial assistance and educational awareness for uninsured, underserved, and indigent children and adults.  Financial assistance would be provided for procedures that would relieve pain and suffering due to life threatening dental infections and disease.  Diagnosis (by a licensed dentist) must be made requiring the removal of infected teeth or an infected tooth.

A network of Dentist stretching across the state of Tennessee affectionately called  “Dental Angels” will help to meet the dental needs of many.  The Angel Fund Foundation long term goal is the reach across the United States and abroad with the state of Tennessee leading the way. With the support of local dental societies, the Tennessee Dental Association Foundation, as well as contributions from the private sector and the endorsement of the Alton Park  Development Corporation, the Dental Angel Fund Foundation has emerged as a solution to a long standing state and nationwide problem.  The Dental Angel Fund Foundation will continue to seek partners, endorsements, and contributions to support its cause.  All donations and contributions are tax deductible.
